Care of oxygen mask

Publish Time: 2022-04-05     Origin: Site

Oxygen mask has brought many important influences to our production and life, so what is the care of oxygen mask? Let's take a look at it next.

Here is the content list:

  • Psychological care

  • Air leak care

  • Nursing in non-invasive ventilation

  • The material properties of the oxygen mask and the filling degree of the air cushion affect the use effect of the ventilator

Psychological care

Because most patients have no experience with a ventilator, coupled with the discomfort and claustrophobia of wearing an oxygen mask, they are often reluctant to accept non-invasive ventilator therapy. Therefore, before use, patients should be patiently explained to reduce the tension and fear of patients, such as the necessity, purpose, significance, superiority, and safety of ventilator treatment; explain the discomfort such as blowing wind during use. The patient is instructed to relax and breathe freely, and not to interrupt treatment because of deliberately "cooperating" with the ventilator to cause human-machine confrontation. When using the oxygen mask, the patient can take a semi-recumbent position. In the beginning, the patient adopts an adaptive connection to increase the comfort of non-invasive ventilation. In the process of wearing the oxygen mask, fully communicate with the patient to observe the patient's tolerance and difficulty in breathing. Continuous monitoring of breathing patterns, chest and ventilator activities at the bedside to reduce anxiety, tension, and restlessness of patients, and protective restraint for irritable patients if necessary. In the early stage of use (0.5h ~ 1h), special personnel should guide and take care of them. Accompany the patient to enhance the patient's sense of safety. Eliminate the nervousness of the patient, correctly instruct the patient to breathe regularly, and synchronize with the ventilator as soon as possible.

Air leak care

Since most non-invasive ventilators have an air leakage compensation function, a small amount of air leakage will not affect the treatment effect. However, a large amount of air leakage exceeds the compensation function of the machine itself, or because the air leakage compensation machine requires a faster ventilation speed, the blowing feeling is significantly enhanced, which causes the patient to not tolerate it, and the treatment fails. In addition, the air leakage should not be directed towards the eye, otherwise, even a small amount of air leakage should not be tolerated by patients. After fixing the oxygen mask, you can ask the patient about the air leakage, and adjust the tightness of the fixing belt according to the position of the air leakage. The slack is suitable for 1 to 2 fingers to be inserted without air leakage.

Nursing in non-invasive ventilation

According to the condition, it can be used to relax once every 4 hours for 15 to 30 minutes each time, and massage the skin of the pressure area. Instruct patients to complete basic care and life care in a centralized manner, reduce the number of times the mask is put on and put on, and maintain the continuity of ventilation. Use warm water to wash the face when the patient is disconnected from the ventilator by drinking water, eating, expecting sputum, etc., to improve the blood circulation of the face.

The material properties of the oxygen mask and the filling degree of the air cushion affect the use effect of the ventilator

The rubber air cushion is hard in texture, not easy to adhere to the face, and has poor airtightness. When the air cushion is insufficiently inflated, the hard mask will easily aggravate the pressure damage to the face; when the air cushion is over-inflated, the contact area between the oxygen mask and the face will be reduced, and it is easy to leak. The silicone mask is thin and soft and has a large contact area with the face. Especially when inhaling, the pressure inside the mask increases, which increases the area of fitting with the nose and cheeks, so the pressure on the face is light, thus ensuring the good airtightness and comfort of the mask. Spend. Therefore, it is generally recommended to use a silicone oxygen mask to increase the success rate of treatment.
